NYFW Fall 2014: Beauty Trends
We already know what the top trends of New York Fashion Week were but what about what’s trending in the world of beauty? Much like the trends in apparel, beauty trends made a major impact during the F/W 14 shows. From makeup to hair, we’ve rounded up the top beauty trends spotted on the runways.
Designers didn’t hold back on the blush this fashion week. Top designers such as Prabal Gurung, Michael Kors and Opening Ceremony used this trend in their runways shows. Contouring the cheek bones and piling on the blush, models looked anything but matte and natural.
Staying true to the rosy trend, designers incorporated the shade onto eyelids as well. We first spotted this look on the BCBG Max Azria show, and the trend continued into the Alexandre Herchcovitch and Diane Von Furstenberg shows. The unique shadow was paired with a fresh-faced look and nude lip.
The hot hair look of the fall season appears to be a slicked back and polished style. Whether slicked back or to the side, designers implemented both of these looks into their shows. Diesel Black Gold featured models with a slicked side part while Honor parted model’s hair in the middle with slicked sides.
The bold brow trend isn’t going anywhere as proven in the F/W 2014 shows. Seen on the runways were models with thick and groomed brows. Christian Siriano and Carolina Herrera were among the designers who used this trend as did Wayne in its Fall 2014 campaign photos.
There was no red hue in particular that made a statement on the runways, but rather a mix of shades of the popular color. Berries, pinks and burgundys were all seen in the shows. Zac Posen used a more traditional cherry red, Alice + Olivia used a glam red in their Fall 2014 campaign images and Carolina Herrera used a pink-hued color in her show.
Metallics of all shades were used heavily in the shows. Sass and Bide and Bibhu Mohapatra struck with the traditional shade of gold, while Rodarte featured a metallic pink lip on its models. Designers showcased the shade most commonly on the eyes and worked it into the corners for a pop of color.
